You can request the postponement of your classification in the Armed Forces if:

• you are invited to rank due to an initial call of your class
• you are on board merchant ships of more than 1 000 tonnes, flying a Greek or foreign flag under a contract with the Seamen’s Pension Fund (NAT) on the date on which you are required to be classified in the Armed Forces.

When you apply:

The supporting documents shall be submitted within six (6) months of the date of classification. If later submitted, the deferral is granted only if the conditions existed on the date of ranking

You will need:

• your personal Taxisnet credentials
• certification or attestation the competent department of the Ministry of Merchant Shipping and Island Policy or the Greek Consular Authority.
