Register of trade unions and employers’ organisations

Legal representatives of trade unions and employers’ organisations can apply online for registration in the General Register of Employees’ Organisations (GEMITE)/Employers’ Organisations (GEMHOE).
The application may also be submitted by a person specifically authorised by the organisation’s legal representative.

Once the application has been submitted, it will be approved/rejected on the basis of its completeness.
Once the application has been approved, you will be sent by email the pair of passwords in the register’s IT system. Using these codes you can:

  • remove your organisation from the respective register

You will need either:

  • personal Taxisnet credentials – for the initial application for registration of the organisation
  • the codes that will be assigned to you once your registration has been approved – to update the details of the organisation

Registration in the General Commercial Register:

  • it replaces the obligation for trade unions to register in the special register of trade unions of the Court of First Instance with territorial jurisdiction.
  • gives legal personality to organisations set up on or after 01/01/2022

Organisations shall not be required to register:

  • police officers
  • civilian staff of the EPC
  • military and Joint Colleges
