The lodging of an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) is mandatory for all goods brought into the customs territory of the EU.

In particular, the entry summary declaration shall be lodged:

• at the first point of entry
• before the goods arrive in the customs territory of the EU
• before being loaded in containers in the course of overseas maritime transport.
