You can obtain a six-month extension of the validity of the supplementary protection certificate for a paediatric medicinal product, provided that:

• protected by a national patent in force
• has a national or Union sales authorisation (first marketing authorisation)
• does not already hold a certificate

You can also submit additional documents in your file.

You should be aware of:

• the number and date of filing of the national or EU patent and its expiry date
• the number and date of authorisation to place the product on the market;

You need to:

• register and authenticate with the Industrial Property Organisation (OBI)
• pay the fees for each stage of the procedure

The result will be sent to the IED mailbox.
